Looking back at 2020
It's the last day of this cursed year and it's a perfect occasion to take a look back on what happened throughout this year. Besides all the bad stuff that affected all of us and all the boring stuff (like being busy with uni tasks), a lot of artistic-related stuff happened that I kinda forgot that they started just this year. First of all, this year I celebrated hitting 1000 watchers here on dA with a big ass contest and it was a lot of fun with lots of great entries and lots of prizes :D You can find the entries in this folder: https://www.deviantart.com/kanahaniart/favourites/81854656/1000-watchers-contest-entries In 2020 I've also decided to take more care of my characters, as I tended not to draw them really besides the comics itself. So every month I followed the themes by @Polska-Malowana with the rule of "don't do the same character twice". Not all of them are that great (especially the last ones), but either way I am happy that I managed to draw something "proper" with my
FYI: the comics is not dead!
I've had quite a hiatus in uploading any new comic pages for my "True Face" series (4 months, what the hell time just flies by so fast) but I want to announce it's not dead by any means and I will upload some new pages soon (hopefully) as I'm in the slow process of making them. I've been feeling a bit of dissatisfaction with the comics art style again of lineart-kindof + color thing and also it not being the most fast and effective way to draw since I get stuck on the lineart part a lot sometimes. So I thought I'll finish the current scene with the white-haired angery boi in the old style to keep any consistency and then mess around with new looks in the following scene to see how it goes. I've also been messing around with fast-paced art battles recently and have concluded that the fully painterly style (without previous sketch or detailed outline) is my currently fastest way to draw that I'm quite satisfied with the results. My gallery has been there for like, idk, 8 years? And during that time I have submitted hundreds of things, literally. Some drawings are dear and personal to me, but to others I have lost any sentiment over the years - some of those things being old art trades, commissions and whatnot. It stared to feel a bit littered to me, especially that a lot of these things are not the most artistically ambitious things I've made: sketches with flat colors, simple avatar icons and so on. I plan to put a lot of them into deviantArt's storage, which will result in removing them from my gallery and keeping them visible only to myself (inside said storage section). I will start the cleanup next week, so if you have anything you want to save before that, feel free to do so! :) If you happen to read this message after the cleanup is done, nothing's lost - note me, or even better - email me at kanahani.contact@gmail.com and I will send you your drawing in full quality. 1000 Watchers Contest + Raffle RESULTS
The time has come! After 3 months, in during of which over 100 new people decided to watch me (by the way HOLY MOLY thank you all so much! :heart:), the results of my big 1000 watcher celebrations are there!
The choices I had to make were definitely not easy, but I hope my final judgement is well and fair to all. I'm reminding you, that one person can win only one place in only one category, as well as that I'm judging by the category's subjects and not necessarily "artistic skill" however you define it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Though I definitely took the details and overall effort into consideration where two things were equally thema
